There are good reasons to dehumidify your inside air. Excess humidity is uncomfortable and can be unhealthy, as well. Excess humidity may encourage insect activity and mildew growth. When your home is too humid, it may be difficult to sleep. Too much moisture in the air can contribute to mould, blistering paint and peeling wallpaper. Any way you look at it, excess humidity is not a good thing.

The way a desiccant dehumidifier works is simple. The active ingredient is a water-adsorbant or absorbent material, also known as a desiccant. Typically, the material used in our desiccant dehumidifiers is Zeolite. Zeolites are microporous, aluminosilicate minerals that attract and hold water vapour from the air. Generally, a desiccant dehumidifier runs a slowly rotating wheel that contains Zeolite. An electric fan draws air over the wheel. Wet air in, dry air out. The moisture from the air is collected and condensed and then stored in a reservoir. Some dehumidifiers are connected to plumbing, so the condensed water vapour does not have to be disposed of. If you do use the type of desiccant dehumidifier that collects water in a reservoir, you may use this "grey" water to irrigate houseplants. Please do not give it to your pet or child or water your vegetable plants with grey water. As this type of water stands a while, it may easily become stagnant or contaminated.
At DehumidifiersUK, the Eco Air model DD122FW-Mk4 is our best-selling desiccant dehumidifier. At only US $256.63, this Eco Air desiccant dehumidifier looks good while quietly clearing the excess atmospheric moisture from your space. It is available with a pink or blue side panel. Like all desiccant dehumidifiers, the Eco Air model DD122FW-Mk4 works quite effectively during cool winter months with temperatures of between one degree and forty degrees centigrade. It can pull seven litres of moisture from the air per day. Condensed water passes through a silver filter to kill bacteria.
