Desiccant units extract moisture from the air in temperatures ranging from one degree centigrade upwards and in real world scenarios are much more effective at extracting moisture than a compressor driven unit. A seven litre a day rated desiccant unit extracts more moisture than a 25 litre a day rated compressor unit. Desiccant units are smaller, lighter, quieter, more efficient (ie cheaper to run) and more robust than compressor units. There are no consumable components on a desiccant.
